It's almost like he never left! Well, that's exactly what has happened. Last week, plenty of headlines were made when it was reported that Wisconsin wideout Trech Kekahuna was going to enter the transfer portal. After showing plenty of promise, losing him to another team was going to sting.
Go ahead and clear that idea off the menu, though. In a bit of a twist, Kekahuna took to social media to announce that he's actually not going anywhere. Nope, Madison will remain his home, as he won't transfer and he'll play for Wisconsin in 2025 after all. This is a pleasant surprise, no doubt.
Wisconsin WR Trech Kekahuna has decided he won't be transferring
With the portal officially opening up on Monday, Kekahuna was already starting to get attention from other programs, including the Minnesota Gophers. The idea of him trading a Wisconsin jersey for a Minnesota one was making people sick.
Luckily, Kakahuna decided that the grass isn't always greener on the other side and Wisconsin is going to be the best place for him to keep developing. This is surely welcome news for Badgers head coach Luke Fickell, especially with all of the players who won't be back in 2025.
The headliners in recent days have been Tyler Van Dyke and Braedyn Locke. Van Dyke probably would have been the starter if he would have suited up for UW, while Locke likely would have remained QB2 regardless. Now, Fickell and his coaches are going to have to find a new stud signal-caller via the portal.
Whoever they end up signing will be able to depend on Kekahuna to make plays for the offense. This past season, the speedster hauled in 25 receptions for 339 yards and two touchdowns. His breakout game against Purdue was so much fun to watch, as he posted six catches for 134 yards and two touchdowns. It looked like his time on campus was over, but a last second change of heart led to Wednesday's big-time update. Badgers fans finally have something to celebrate.
