The Wisconsin women's basketball team has changed a lot in just a couple of months. There's a new head coach and new assistant coaches, and most of the team has left to go to new destinations. There are only seven players currently listed on the roster and three coaches, including the new head coach, Robin Pingeton. It's going to be a brand new team next season.

One of the starters who left is Carter McCray, who has already found a new home in the Big 12 at West Virginia. She still has two years left to play in her college career and is a high-value add for the Mountaineers.

Carter McCray has committed to play at West Virginia after transferring out of Wisconsin

Carter McCray transferred from Northern Kentucky to Wisconsin last year. As a true freshman, she excelled for the Norse, averaging 15.7 points, 11.2 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and almost a block a game. She used that exceptional year to find her way to the Badgers, but after a coaching change, she decided to move on again, this time to West Virginia.

McCray was also a star for Wisconsin as a sophomore, playing in 30 games and starting 29 of them. She averaged 10.6 points and 7.1 rebounds on 56% field goal shooting. She is going to make the Mountaineers very happy in a system that should allow her to put up similar numbers to her freshman season.

Robin Pingeton has a big job to do this offseason: rebuilding her roster and finding a way to compete in the Big Ten—something her predecessor wasn't able to accomplish. She comes in with two new assistant coaches and has already landed her first transfer, Laci Steele. She needs a whole lot more, and all indications are that she is aggressive in the portal looking for future Badgers.
