The Wisconsin Badgers are known historically as one of the top offensive line-producing teams in the country. Year after year, the Badgers send offensive linemen to the NFL, and even this year, where no one was drafted and the year was a bummer, Riley Mahlman found a spot on the Atlanta Falcons.

So while things haven't been the same of late, there's a strong desire to get things going again. Wisconsin offensive line coach Eric Mateos has been very vocal about this and how he's working to get OL-U off the ground again. The 2027 has some really important pieces, even the 2026 line looks like it will be a step forward from 2025. Now, Mateos is after some big names in 2028. One in particular stands out: Jamarios Canton.

Canton is a borderline 5-star recruit out of IMG Academy. He's one of the top-10 tackles in the nation by every recruiting service. And part of his plan is to hit a bunch of camps this summer to really showcase his ability, but also learn from all the top offensive line coaches. One of his visits is to Wisconsin this week. He will be on campus this weekend and working with Mateos closely.

It's also Luke Fickell's way of entering into the race for Canton, with the desire to make him a Badger and part of rebuilding the offensive line trenches.

Canton has offers from all over the country from all the top programs. He currently holds 25 offers from schools like Alabama, Florida, Auburn, Ohio State, Texas, Texas Tech, Washington, and Wisconsin. That's an impressive list of schools, and it's well-deserved as he continues to showcase that he could be an elite tackle at the college level.

He is 6'5 and 305 pounds, and he's only going to be a junior in high school. He's a monster, and he projects to continue to add strength and size to his already impressive frame.

Canton only recently picked up a Wisconsin offer back in May as Mateos became aware of his skill set and quickly made sure that he would be part of the upcoming recruiting camp. This allows both the player and the program to sync up with the idea of the recruit also gaining in college skills from college coaches.

He's not the only offensive tackle that Mateos is chasing down in 2028. 24/7 Sports is reporting that Wisconsin has offered 22 offensive linemen in the 2028 class. While many of them may end up being long shots to pick Wisconsin, it shows a deep desire to get things right along the line. Not just in 2028 but even this season. Mateos has revived the offensive line recruiting. Now, we look forward to seeing how his line functions on the field.
