Been rumored as a flip candidate but nope.

Wisconsin was able to wrestle 3-star defensive lineman David Hill away from programs like Purdue and Minnesota. Locking him up as a Badger before official visit season has even begun. There was some worry that he would still take his scheduled visits to the other programs. He put those worries to bed with his latest quote, "It feels like home there, so I don't see anything changing."

He said this after his official visit to Wisconsin last weekend, and it was this visit that really silenced all the noise for Hill and others trying to work back into his recruitment. He's an important addition for the Badgers, and after you read a little more about him, you can see why other programs were still hoping to get a flip out of Hill.

3-star DL David Hill is sold on Wisconsin and doesn't see "anything changing."

Hill is the perfect fit for a Wisconsin defensive tackle. Two years ago, Luke Fickell decided to only bring in interior defensive linemen who are big. He even has a bit of a weight requirement: 300 pounds or more. The idea was that any smaller and they can't get leverage against Big Ten offensive linemen. Last year was the first season we saw this strategy, and while Wisconsin didn't have a great year in terms of wins and losses, the defensive line took a big step forward.

Thus, Hill, already listed at 300 pounds and 6'3", shows that he is at the right size even without a college weight-training program. Get him on Wisconsin's strength training and nutrition plan, and that 300 pounds turns even more into strength and leverage, which he will need as he develops in the Big Ten.

Hill also has a good scouting report coming into Wisconsin. Fickell will also love that Hill is a high school wrestler and knows how to get position and aggressive leverage using his lower body. Gabe Brooks from 24/7 Sports had this to say about Hill, "Broad interior defender with above average length relative to build. Plays strong at the point of attack and can move bodies off the ball. Room to improve lower-body flexibility and economy of movement when entering engagement."

Hill was part of a big surge for Fickell's best recruiting class ever. The 2027 recruiting class for Wisconsin is currently ranked No. 17, falling a couple of spots since Mekhi Williams committed, due to other programs around them adding more commitments. Hill is an important piece to this class. He isn't the only defensive lineman in the class. He is also joining big 6'5, 270-pound 3-star Will Zaccagnino from Connecticut. Both are expected to be strong interior linemen for the Badgers.

However, like most defensive linemen (or offensive linemen), don't expect immediate playing time. It takes a couple of years for the big men to be college-ready, especially in the Big Ten.

Having Hill in the fold is huge, and making sure he doesn't flip is a bonus. He's sold on the Badgers, and that's a big win.
