The news that happened from the weekend into Monday was entirely Wisconsin basketball-related, from the Badgers going pro to the ones that potentially could be coming in via recruiting. There was also the important hire of a Wisconsin basketball general manager thrown into the news cycle, too. Let's get after it.
John Tonje's electric summer league debut
John Tonje was finally able to get into the summer league after sitting out the first two games (and the previous ones in Salt Lake) with a sprained right ankle. He didn't disappoint, and many Jazz fans are even starting to think they got a draft steal in Tonje. Read about it here.
Markus Ilver goes pro
In other pro news, Markus Ilver signed a pro-contract with a professional team in Estonia, which is fitting for Ilver as he is able to play professional basketball but also return to where he was born and spent his childhood before he made his way to the States in high school. Read that here.
Wisconsin hoops hires a general manager from within
Now that the house settlement has been approved, there is even a bigger need for the Wisconsin Badgers to have a general manager. They got their guy in the fact that they already had their guy and just promoted Marc VandeWettering from within. That article can be found here.
Two updates on recruiting with Greg Gard making his rounds
Greg Gard has been in Atlanta the last couple of days watching players in the AAU tournaments there. There are two in particular that Gard has paid attention to. One picked up an offer from the Badgers, and one is still waiting on his.
Reports about Wisconsin's first game against Campbell
Wisconsin fans now know who Wisconsin will play first next season, the Campbell Fighting Campbells. Although it hasn't been officially announced, reputable reports indicate that it is happening and will take place on November 3rd at Kohl Center.
