Football season and volleyball season are upon us, and there's a lot going on around both programs. It's an exciting time to be a fan. The football team was able to secure its first win, a particularly notable one, as it was Luke Fickell's first shutout while coaching at Wisconsin. The defense was stellar, but in the process, starting quarterback Billy Edwards Jr. went down with an injury.

The latest on Billy Edwards Jr.'s injury

The injury was a non-contact injury, and you can see the video of it happening here. Whenever it's a non-contact injury, the fear is always high, like a torn ligament or muscle that will take months to heal. However, he came out of the locker room while the game was still ongoing, wearing sweats but not a boot and not using crutches.

Edwards was cheering on his team and part of the action and celebration on the sideline. Luke Fickell was optimistic, and it does appear that Wisconsin may have dodged a major bullet with his injury. Pete Thamel is reporting it is a knee sprain and that Edwards is week-to-week.

The obvious decision for Fickell is to at least sit him for Middle Tennessee.

Former Badgers around College Football

The former Badgers who went to other schools in the transfer portal. Some did well, while others seemed to be absent, and some were terrible, like Mabrey Mettauer, who threw the worst pick-six so far this season against UNLV.

A former Badger quarterback who never could quite crack the depth chart at Wisconsin broke a school record in his first game for Eastern Illinois. Keontez Lewis was fantastic in his Oklahoma Sooners debut with two touchdowns.

Wisconsin volleyball is 1-1 in a good game and a game full of struggles

The Wisconsin volleyball team began the season at the Opening Spike Classic, which featured four elite teams in the field. The No. 8 Badgers won the first game against No. 14 Kansas but lost the second match on Sunday against No. 5 Texas.
