These news update posts are getting harder and harder to compile, not because of a lack of news, but because there is so much going on. NFL is rolling, college football is less than a week away, volleyball is back, and then just the general news that's happening around the program. This article doesn't cover everything, but it's got some things you may have missed.
NFL Updates: Wohler, Huber, Nelson
Let's check in on our rookies. Hunter Wohler was injured during the second preseason game and was ruled out for the rest of the game. Not much has been said since then about his injury, but it's something to monitor going forward.
Joe Huber has impressed for the Vikings, and while his second game wasn't nearly as impressive as his first, he still looks much better than an undrafted free agent. The Vikings truly will have a tough time cutting him.
Nelson, on the other hand, is struggling. While he's getting plenty of opportunities, it hasn't looked great. His potential is there, but he often seems overmatched and confused.
Women's Basketball allegations and civil lawsuit
Five former players have filed a civil lawsuit against Marisa Moseley, Justin Doherty, and the Wisconsin Board of Regents. Allegations against Moseley for psychological abuse and Wisconsin's lack of response to it, even when players pleaded for help. Not good, and Christ McIntosh and Wisconsin need to release a statement or speak about it in some way or another.
Eugene Hilton Jr. and other depth chart updates
Eugene Hilton Jr. has impressed so much at fall camp that Jeff Grimes says he will for sure be in the rotation during the season. As a true freshman, that's impressive. He has shone and they can't keep him off the depth chart.
Tucker Ashcraft suffered an injury, and it puts his week one game in doubt, but maybe longer. There is some thought about using Chris Brooks in a blocking role to help there. However, Lance Mason has looked great.
We also seem to have a handle on the running back situation and how Wisconsin will mostly roll with three backs and go from there.
