Wisconsin's 'visit to commit' percentage is off the chart even with the latest miss

Almost everyone who visited committed to Wisconsin.

Luke Fickell hit a home run with this recruiting class, and his task now switches to mostly retaining every single player as other sharks begin to circle. Wisconsin currently has a top-20 class, and there are a lot of impressive metrics to look at with this class, but maybe the most incredible is the 'visit-to-commit' ratio. This is basically, 'how many of the official visits turned into commitments?' For Fickell and Wisconsin, the percentage is incredibly high, even with the latest miss.

First, let's talk about the lone miss, for there aren't many, and the final uncommitted player from the official visits was offensive tackle Alijah Shaw. He was deciding between Arkansas, Wisconsin, Oklahoma State, and a few other programs. His first visit went to the Razorbacks, and his second to Wisconsin, but he ultimately picked Arkansas.

He's just one of a few misses when it comes to visitors. 24/7 Sports is reporting 26 visitors, though there is some debate whether Louisville commit Chuck Alexander ever actually made it to Wisconsin. But we can count him to be fair to the percentages.

Wisconsin had an incredible 88% 'visit-to-commitment' ratio in the 2027 recruiting class

Out of the 26 players who took official visits, 23 players are Wisconsin Badgers. That's an 88% visit-to-commit percentage. Naysayers will say that you can't count the recruits who were already committed and only visited Wisconsin because of that. How about for those people, we throw out a separate percentage.

There were 13 players not committed to the Badgers before either an official visit or a camp (Jack Tabbert). This still includes Chuck Alexander. Of those 13, 10 of them chose to play for the Badgers and commit after a visit. That's an 80% clip. Take out Alexander, who may not have visited, and it's 83%.

This isn't to mention that Wisconsin had three players flip during this season from other programs. Luke Fickell got 4-star Mekhi Williams to flip from Florida State, Brody Pfannenstiel to flip from Texas Tech, and Jack Tabbert to flip from North Dakota State.

The Badgers only missed on Alijah Shaw, Chuck Alexander, and Tavares Powell. That's an insane run for the recruiting department, and it's rare to only miss on a few players. It shows how special the recruiting was this season for Wisconsin, and the incredible feat is that it happened after a four-win season.

Now, we need to consider another naysayer in the room. The random pessimistic fan that wants to rain on every parade. There were players scheduled to visit, but they canceled or committed elsewhere before arriving in Madison. Yet, when we consider this list, it is about the "visit-to-commit" ratio, which is irrelevant. And with 23 players committed, some of those recruits probably felt the reduction in interest from Wisconsin.

Finally, the last naysayer and man, this one is out there all over the place, "they aren't signed yet." This is truly a good point, and Wisconsin has been burned plenty of times on recruits that flip late in the cycle. National Signing Day isn't until December, and there truly could be some more movement, but instead of being negative, let's celebrate the success as it stands right now.
